One of the most common causes of fever in childhood is tonsillitis. It usually has symptoms such as fever, malaise, joint pain. Frequent tonsillary infections can cause nasal growth, snoring, sleep apnea, fluid accumulation in the middle ear, and loss of hearing, and may lead to deafness if not interfered. Frequent infections reduce the quality of life of the child and the family. It can cause cause damage to organs because of frequent use of drugs. However, sometimes abscess (peritonsillar abscess, retropharyngeal abscess) can lead heart rheumatism (acute rheumatic fever), joint rheumatism (infective endocarditis) and more acute and more dangerous situations such as febrile convulsion.<\/p>\n<\/div>

If tonsil infection is more frequent than 4-5 per month, surgery should be considered. It is decided together with the family. However, it is not recommended to wait until severe complications develop. In our institution, we perform tonsillectomy under general anesthesia and it takes only half an hour. Individuals with tonsil surgery will not have a tonsillitis again. A special diet is given to patient for about 1 week-10 days after the surgery. You are asked to avoid hard, hot and acidic foods.<\/p>\n<\/div>
